What is a Language Proficiency Test?

Language proficiency checks according to EASA rules

Overview:
Our Language Proficiency Checks are specialised language tests that are carried out in accordance with the strict guidelines of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). These tests are offered in cooperation with LTB112 and are fully approved by Austro Control. Our aim is to ensure the language competence of pilots in accordance with international aviation standards and to evaluate their communication skills in air traffic.

1. Collaboration with LTB112:
Our exams are held in collaboration with the renowned Language Testing Body 112 (LTB112). LTB112 is known for its high standards in language testing and offers a first-class platform for our participants.

2. Approval by Austro Control:
Our Language Proficiency Checks are approved by Austro Control, the Austrian aviation safety authority. This guarantees that our exams meet the highest standards and are recognized throughout the industry.

3. Examination level according to ICAO scale:
Our exams cover levels 4, 5 and 6 according to the ICAO language proficiency scale. These levels assess a pilot's ability to communicate effectively and safely in aviation language.

Details of the exam levels:

- Level 4 (Operational):
* A Level 4 certificate is valid for 4 years.
* This tests the participant's ability to communicate effectively in everyday situations, avoid misunderstandings and exchange information clearly and precisely.
* Tests basic language skills, fluent communication, and the ability to respond appropriately in unexpected situations.

- Level 5 (Extended):
A Level 5 certificate is valid for 6 years.
* Requires a higher level of language skills and the ability to confidently handle more complex conversations and difficult situations.
* Examines the ability to communicate fluently and spontaneously in almost all situations, with attention to cultural nuances and technical terms.

- Level 6 (Expert):
A Level 6 certificate is valid indefinitely.
* Involves the highest level of linguistic ability, excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate accurately and effectively in all situations.
* A near-native level of language skills is expected, with clear and effortless communication even in unexpected or stressful situations.

4. Examination methodology:
Our exams consist of various components, including speaking and listening tests, realistic role plays and direct interviews, to ensure that the full range of language skills is tested.

5. Registration process:
Interested parties can register easily and conveniently via our online portal. In cooperation with LTB112, we offer flexible exam dates to meet the individual needs of participants.

Finally, our Language Proficiency Checks are an excellent way to assess and certify pilots' communication skills to the highest international standards. With accreditation from Austro Control and partnership with LTB112, we guarantee an exam experience that is both professional and practical.
